Basic Information
In the current moment, Leigland is fighting an on-and-off was with the tribes that inhabit the Sidbutian Empire to the west and the vagabonds that have been carving up Torland to the northwest. There is a strong flow of refugees from Torland across the lands as people move to escape violence. At the same time, there has been recent contact from Evance, an island across the sea that has highly advanced (for the era) weaponry and new machines. Leigland has been on the forefront of diplomatic relations with the new nation due to their expansive coastline and control of one of the most significant southern harbors. There has been an influx of new traders and immigrants from Evance, looking to see what might available in this new land they've made contact with.
Mercy is a resident of the Diocese of Leigland. It is the largest country and with the primary industries being trade, fishing, and war. Mercy's ancestral home of Srada was invaded and taken over several generations past. Srada was known to worship Brother Earth, a god of death and decay. This religion was considered uncivilized and vile and it has generally been stamped out save for in a few small enclaves. Those who work in the business of death as gravediggers and the like are allowed their worship, but it is frowned upon and those who practice this faith are widely discriminated against.
Leigland is used to conquering and enforcing its norms on other countries, eradicating other cultures via assimilation rather than culling. Leigland tends to worship fishing, fighting, and storm-based gods, along with a few agriculture-based ones. A small portion of the population worships the seasonal gods, and an even smaller portion worship the Blind Mother, a goddess associated with love.
While the Blind Mother represents a small congregation, it is considered a vitally important one and respected by other faiths. Some of Leigland's greatest heroes are said to have arisen from Evergreen Abbey, the oldest and most revered Abbey in the faith. It has an unusually high number of prophecies associated with it and due to its location, the Abbey and its surrounding city has served as the main bulwark against the Sidbutian Empire, a civilization of 'godless heathens.' The heroes of Evergreen have fended off hordes over the centuries, always seeming to rise to the challenge in a time of need and struggling, but never quite being overcome.
Also due to its location, Evergreen has been one of the slowest to see the results of the recent immigration. Still, there are immigrants from Torland to the north, and places like Srada, which have been conquered. Even a small number of native Sidbutians have found an uncertain home to in the small city. Printing is a very popular activity and export for Evergreen beyond its heroes and charity, and it is viewed as something of an artistic enclave.
Evergreen Abbey, itself, is located on the edge of town, surrounded by high walls and forests beyond. It is recently reconstructed after a devastating fire four years ago that burned everything from the gatehouse to the main building. Hundreds of years of historical documents were lost along with the main abbey building. Mercy helped in the reconstruction of the building and overseeing some of the new leadership that has recently taken over after scandals regarding the previous Abbot of Evergreen came to light. The Abbey's reputation has been even more severely damaged than its battlements and the Abbey and its faithful are slowly struggling to rebuild what can't be fixed with wood and nails.
Further to the south is the city of Inloy and the Temple of the Spring Tide, a place dedicated to an order of clerics devoted to healing. They are a traveling order, and while novitiate train in central temples, most who are part of the order are widely traveled, offering healing services to all who may be in need.

About Amia
Amia is a medieval fantasy world comprised of several countries ruled over by kings and pontiffs. Country divisions are based primarily on which gods a country tends to worship out of an overarching pantheon. All gods are typically accepted to exist, some are just considered better and more desirable than others by those in power. Gods are varied and range from seasonal spirits to those thought to support a particular trade to those who rule over a particular domain of existence, such as life and death. There is limited evidence of anything actually supernatural in the world, but there are those who claim to be psychics or to see ghosts. In the current moment, Leigland is fighting an on-and-off was with the tribes that inhabit the Sidbutian Empire to the west and the vagabonds that have been carving up Torland to the northwest. About Leigland
Leigland is the largest and most militarily powerful country in the world. It boasts an impressive army and reasonably-sized navy, and it has made a business of conquering its neighbors, claiming to be pure-hearted clerics bringing the true and rightful gods to uncivilized countries with more obscure religious practices. It is currently ruled by Magus Ironrite, a former general who is said to have conquered dozens of lands and banished heretics and lesser gods from Kesparia Bay, a major trading and fishing area.Mercy is a resident of the Diocese of Leigland.
